(Boulder, CO – June 8, 2010) – As oil continues to spill into the Gulf, the country has a reinvigorated zest for alternative energy and the solar industry is meeting that interest with the 15th Annual National Solar Tour. The American Solar Energy Society (ASES), which hosts the tour, calls it the world’s largest grassroots solar event, with participation in 2009 topping more than 150,000 people in 49 states and Puerto Rico.

The event, which begins on October 2, 2010, features open house tours of hundreds of solar-powered homes, businesses and public agencies across America.

The tour also aims to educate Americans about the specific costs, processes, and benefits of going solar. The stars of the tour are solar-powered homes, farms, public agencies, condo complexes and the businesses that run the gamut from donut shops to ceramic shops and funeral homes. Tax credits and cash incentives offered by the government for installing alternative energy and energy efficient products are listed at www.dsireusa.org.

Registration is now open and the ASES needs hosts, sponsors, tour sites and volunteers. Find out more at
