Wal-Mart Goes Solar in California
Santa Ana store will be first in solar power pilot project

WHAT: Wal-Mart, Inc. is unveiling its new solar power pilot project for the first time in the Santa Ana store in Orange County.
You are invited to take a one-on-one tour of the site and see the installation process of the roof mounted solar photovoltaic system (solar panels).
The Santa Ana store is one of 22 sites in California and Hawaii where Wal-Mart has purchased solar power. The total solar power production from the 22 sites is estimated to be as much as 20 million kilowatt-hours per year. They typical California solar power generating system can provide up to 30 percent of the power for the store in which it is installed. The Hawaii systems will averages slightly less than this due to smaller system sizes.
WHO: Spokespersons for Wal-Mart as well as BP Solar, a global leader in providing energy solutions and manufacturer of the solar panels, will be available for comment and will conduct the tours.
